Quinoa and Black Bean Burgers

Anyone who follows me on Instagram or Facebook has seen a major shift in the types of recipes I’ve been trying.  I’m an avid carnivore, but lately I’ve been dabbling in the realm of, what I’ve been calling, the “Pesca-Veggie-Vegan”.  Have no fear, I won’t likely be giving up meat anytime soon, however, I have … Continue reading

Stuffed Shrimp Toast

Happy New Year everyone!!!  2014 was nothing short of fantastic…so much so, that I didn’t have many free moments to update the blog.  You’ll be happy to know that I’ve committed to doing so on a much more regular basis in 2015.  I hope everyone is recovering nicely from their New Year’s Eve festivities, and … Continue reading

BBQ Chicken Benedict

I don’t know about you, but I love Mr. Benedict.  Not for who he is, but for the magnificent brunch related treats that he inspires.  Traditional Eggs Benedict, as we know, is an English Muffin, topped with Canadian Bacon, topped with a perfectly poached egg and slathered in Hollandaise Sauce.  Anyone who has attended culinary … Continue reading

Clyde’s of GalleryPlace…Happiness…TWO TIMES

A close second to my love of food, is my love of a good cocktail.  I’ve never met a cocktail that I didn’t like…at least enough to taste and finish it.  As a result, I pride myself on knowing where one can go for good eats AND good drinks, all around any city, and at … Continue reading

Caramelized Fennel & Bacon Pizza

I had the weirdest dream last night. (Wait; don’t run away! You’ll notice I did not start out with “Dear Penthouse Forum, I never thought this would happen to me…”). After a snowy afternoon of baking beet brownies and watching Kitchen Nightmares, I went to bed and had a dream about Gordon Ramsay. (Did I not…

Hendricks Gin and Tonic Frozen Floral Fantasy Cocktail

Originally posted on ice cream magazine:
A client rang to vent her frustration, she somehow knew I wouldn’t fail her with amused understanding. She had half prepared everything for ‘her wanna be chef’ to subsequently load, into an electric crock pot which would be left on all day and ready for their Valentine supper a…

Red Berry Cobbler

With all of the snow we’ve been getting this year, I’ve been making a lot of super simple comfort food.  I promise, once the weather breaks, we’ll get into some of my more intricate recipes, but right now, this is all I’m cooking…AND eating.  Somehow, I’ve managed to keep my weight down…I’m not complaining, I’m … Continue reading

Venture Kitchen and Bar

“I know it’s silly, but it’s worth it…trust me.”  No truer words have ever been spoken.  Picture it…a big city girl, on a family trip to…Hampton.  I’ll be honest, I wasn’t very hopeful, when I set out in search of brunch on Sunday morning as I left the great city of Hampton, VA, but what … Continue reading

Every year, Z becomes extra introspective around his birthday. He sort of goes on a spiritual fast and becomes very quiet and what I used to think was, withdrawn. As we have continued to grow, I’ve watched in awe as he takes stock of the previous year and makes plans for the year ahead, and always highlights that for which he is most grateful. Keeping with the theme of the past week, I’m highlighting my greatest blessings, and he’s at the top of the list. I’m grateful for your life @thebeardedmensch. I’m grateful for our life together, and I’m grateful for everything we’re blessed to share. I love you more than bacon. ‘nuff said. Happy Birthday Baby 😘 Quasi-vacay mode for the Mr.’s birthday. I’d far prefer working from the beach than the subzero temps in DC right now. Not to mention my favorite pastime...canoodling with my boo... #wellbeback #zday2018 #thismightbetheonlypic We’re a week away from the actual day, but we always celebrate early with friends and family before we skip town for our annual tradition. Can you believe this is the fourth birthday party I’ve thrown for you @thebeardedmensch? “Small, intimate, #pizza, #tacos, #beer.” Your wish is my command 😘 when I asked what kind of birthday cake he wanted, he said he wanted an ice cream cake...#rockyroad to be specific. Nobody sells that. So, I hit up Pinterest for inspiration on construction and set out to make #cashewmilk #rockyroadicecream because #nondairy is a must 💨💨💨 I made the #carvel crunchies out of Oreos and #magicshell ice cream topping and decided on #pralinesandcream for the top layer. I might do a video with all of the steps, but long story short, I “iced it” with cool whip and piled the top high with all of the ingredients. It was bomb. We had a blast. I like to take an inside/out approach to warmth. Roasted curried vegetable soup for #lunch. Pulled this together in between calls and gusts of wind howling by the windows. #mymycooks #roastedcurry #vegetablesoup #curriedvegetables #mymycooks
